Rainbow Glass Heart Sun Catcher
Everyone can use a little luck, so I created my lucky rainbow heart sun catcher. The rainbow ends at a little pile of "gold," as if it's leading to that lucky pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
I make this kiln cast rainbow heart suncatcher by layering colored powdered glass called "frit", into a handmade ceramic heart mold. I use tiny little spoons and straws to create the delicate glass pattern, much like sand art. I then carefully lay the heart mold into my kiln, and slowly fire the kin up to almost 1500 degrees to melt the glass. Once the glass has melted and then cooled complete to room temperature (a process which can take several days), I remove the now solid glass heart from the mold, and polish the edges to remove any remnants of glass seperator.
Rainbow Heart measures approximately 2 5/8 inches wide and 2 1/2 inches high, and is strung on a satin ribbon.
